BASIC STUDY TIPS CAN SIMPLIFY PRELIMS, MIDTERMS,
AND FINAL EXAMINATION

Exams Again??!! Most of the students complained about the many books to
read, notes to complete and projects to pass their exams. For the last-minute burst of studying, students can try and experiment
on some innovative ways to prepare for theses crucial exams. Below are some suggestions/strategies that will help to do your
best on exams.
I. DAILY PREPARATION
Collect tools for use in course.
Plan a realistic reading/study schedule.
Read and study actively.
Create a well-organized notebook (Planner)
Create a basic vocabulary list.
Annotate class notes.
Number & organize handouts.
Save past quizzes and tests.
Read & mark textbook prior to class.
II. FIVE DAYS INTENSIVE
REVIEW BEFORE THE
DATE
Listen carefully in class for clues as to what’s
going to be in the test.
Prioritize the materials for study.
Identify strategies to learn material that suits the
test format.
Predict test questions.
Spend sometime w/ a classmate to share the test questions
ideas & information.
III. THE DAY OF THE TEST.
Review the materials lightly before the test.
Arrive early.
Be confident, alert, calm, and see the test as a challenge.
Get a good night sleep for two days prior to the exam.
Avoid cramming right before the exam/test.
Read all directions. Skim the entire test before beginning.
Consider writing down formulas or other difficult to
remember information before starting the test.
Be neat.
Check your paper before turning it in.
